Froggy is excited about the upcoming arrival of a new sibling, but is disappointed when the baby turns out to be a sister rather than the brother he had hoped for. The story is appealing though a bit too long. While the repetition of sounds and the parents' calls for "Froggy!" will appeal to children, this adventure is not quite on a par with previous visits, such as Froggy Gets Dressed (1992) and Let's Go, Froggy! (1994, both Viking). However, it is sure to please this lovable character's many fans. - School Library Journal
